Text
‘Hip disease’ suggests a parallel to Akkadian qablu ‘waist, hips, loins’ which feature in medical symptoms. Although parallels are not precise, kidney disease and urinary problems are often associated in Akkadian texts with ‘hip disease’.

Babylonian Talmud, Gittin 69b:
For hip disease let him take a pot of fish brine and rub it sixty times round one hip and sixty times round the other.
