Text
Cleomedes, De Motu Circulari Corporum Caelestium 2.4:
Berossus says that the moon is half fire and has numerous different movements. One is along its length in accordance with the earth; another is along its width, breadth, and depth in accordance with the other five planets; and another is in its own center. In this last movement, Berossus thinks that the moon waxes and wanes as it turns toward the sun and that the revolution is done in equal parts of time in conjunction with the sun. This view, though, is easy to refute.
