A Persian helmet from the booty captured by the Athenians after the battle of Marathon, 490 B.C. (Olympia Archaeological Museum). The inscription added by the Greeks indicates that it ended as booty dedicated to the gods. The helmet style is Assyrian.

“The Athenians took [this helmet] from the Medes [and dedicated it] to Zeus.”
