The Persian dynasty called the Kayânians were according to a popular opinion the powerful kings of the Neo-Babylonian empire.

al-Dīnawarī, Histories 13.3-4 (Guirgass):
Kay Qobâd was king of the land of Babil and all kings of the earth submitted to Kay Qobâd.

al-Bīrūnī, Chronology 87.3ff. (ed. Sachau):
The Kayânians are the kings of Babylon, known among the western peoples as Chaldeans.
