Gudea Cylinder A 19.24-25:
Like a cow keeping an eye on its calf, he went in constant worry to the house.

Baal Epic (Ugarit), KTU 1 6.ii.6-9 (= 28-30):
As the heart of a he[ifer] for her calf, as the heart of a ew[e] for her lamb, so the heart of ˁAnat after Baal

Homer, Iliad 17.4-5:
As a cow stands lowing over her first calf, even so did yellow-haired Menelaos bestride Patroklos. He held his round shield and his spear in front of him, resolute to kill any who should dare face him.
