Text
Both types of passages where the diagnostician tries to get a reaction from the patient are unique in their respective contexts.
Diagnostic Handbook (Akkadian) 16: If for six days he is infected and on the seventh day he cannot breathe freely, they shall sprinkle water into his face. If his eyes do not open, he will die, (but) if his eyes open and close because of the water which they sprinkled on him (and) he cries, he will live.
Hippocratic Corpus, Affections 48: This is how you can tell that he does not see: he does not blink when the finger is brought near.
