Kataduggû Omen Series:
If he says, “Let me die,” he will not die. If he says, “Let me live,” he will not live. If he says, “Let me get rich,” he will not get rich. If he says, “Let me get poor,” he will not get poor. If he says, “[Let me] absolutely not get [po]or,” (his god) will make him presents of destitution. If he says, “Have pity on me,” his god will have pity on him.

1 Samuel 2:6-9:
The Lord puts to death and gives life; he casts down to the netherworld. The Lord makes poor and makes rich, he humbles, he also exalts. … He gives to the vower his vow, and blesses the sleep of the just. … For not by strength does man prevail.
