Text
Mandaic Manuscript 47 (Drower Collection): I adjure you by Bel and Nebo, lords (of) the gods, and by Nirig (= Nergal) lord of a host and armour that you hold back from N. son of N. those evil spirits and powerful amulet-spirits, like lightning that is sent and loosed against that evil serpent, driving it out and turning it aside by its force from that house. You, also, by your potency and by force of these conjurations, drive away and expel from N. son of N., and remove his maladies and evil spirits. Acquire fame from N. son of N. as when the Lady of gods and men (= Libat) took you and carried you off to the male gods and the female astartes and she gave favourable testimony concerning you. And they sent (you ?) to everyone that was ill, working a cure, and healing was found in it (you ?).
