Text
Ephrem Syrus, Hymns on Faith 7.4-5: Even the sea reared up in waves, when it saw him, allowed Him to mount it and out-pranced the donkey. He sat down in a boat: the crew thought him human. He got out, trod the sea: the sailors were amazed. They did not ask Him how. Filled with wonder, they praised, then fell silent in fear. Magi searched for Him, too, and found Him in a crib. Worship, not questioning, they offered in silence. Gifts, not pointless disputes they gave Him.
Ephrem Syrus, Hymns on Faith 10.20: Wondrous are the heels which walked on water, Lord. Monstrous was the sea You trampled on and tamed.
