Admonitions of Ādurbād 109 (Middle Persian):
Whoever digs a pit for his opponents falls in himself.

Ahiqar (Syriac Version) 8.40:
Who digs a pit for his neighbour fills it with his (own) stature.

Tobit 14.10:
Aḥīqar gave alms and escaped the death-trap which Nadab had set for him; but Nadab fell into the trap and perished.
