Admonitions of Ādurbād 60 (Middle Persian):
Make a right-speaking man (your) messenger.

Ahiqar (Arabic Version) 27.6:
Make the modest man a doorkeeper and the liberal, intelligent man a messenger.

Ahiqar (Syriac Version) 41:
My son, send a wise man (on a mission) and give him no orders. But if youy send a fool, go (rather) you (yourself) and send him not.
