Text
A prognostic text in Sogdian offers an exact parallel to Babylonian Iqqur īpuš.
Iqqur īpuš 88.1-5: If in the month Nisan Adad thunders, the reign will change. Adad will smash the grain with his rains. If (it happens) in the month Iyar, there will be deaths (variant: hostilities) in the land. If in the month Siwan, there will be rebel in the land. If in the month Duuzu, the harvest of the land will prosper.
Christian Sogdian Text: [In Nisan: if thunder should occur, that] year [the grain will not] ripen well; if perchance the earth should quake, there will be much rain but men will be very unhappy. In the month Iyar: when thunder occurs, there will be strife; if perchance the earth should quake, there will be famine in all directions. In the month Tamuz: when thunder occurs, there will be much wheat and wine.
