pseudo-Nonnus, Invective 1.72 (Scholia):
Another is observation in the house … Observation in the house is when someone interprets things that happen in the house, and says that it portends such and such - because a weasel has been seen on the roof, or a snake or a mouse, or (because) honey or oil or wine or ashes has been spilt, or something else; (and we say) that it portends such and such. These things Xenocrates wrote about.
