Text
Memra on the Finding of the Cross 337-350:
Throngs upon throngs of Cherubim, Seraphim and angels hastened to come down, singing praise without cease to Jesus the true King, seeing that on the day of the Cross’s discovery Adam’s children acquired freedom. Their cry was as follows: ‘Henceforth service to demons has come to an end in the world’. On this day light has shone out, the fragrance of life has wafted to our faces as the sacred Tree rose up from the earth and was seen by all. There was joy for angels and human kind, but for the Accuser only sorrow.
