Text
pseudo-Lucian, De Dea Syria 1: In Syria there is a city not far from the Euphrates River. It is called Hire (Holy) and it is the Holy City of the Assyrian Hera.
Concerning this city I am going to describe whatever is in it.
I write as an Assyrian, and some of the things I relate I learned firsthand, but what happened before my time I have learned from the priests.
